Erth

Design: BONE Studio

Commissioned by COLLECTIONAL

Scope of work:

Architectural Finishes

Client:

Private

Located within the historic Qasr Al Hosn complex in Abu Dhabi, Erth Coffee Shop is a contemplative dining space where heritage and contemporary design meet.

Designed by BONE Studio, the project reinterprets elements of Emirati culture through a tactile architectural lens, from its open kitchen concept to the intimate, majlis-inspired seating arrangement.

COLLECTIONAL contributed to the project through the coordination and application of Matteo Brioni’s natural clay finishes, which are used across architectural surfaces to introduce a sense of grounding and authenticity. The clay, pigmented in soft, natural hues, forms a quiet backdrop that enhances the interplay of light, shadow, and material throughout the space.

In keeping with BONE Studio’s design ethos, the dining area reimagines traditional majlis seating as carved-out platforms within a raised clay floor—an architectural gesture that invites guests to sit lower to the ground in a way that is both culturally resonant and spatially unique.

Though outside the scope of COLLECTIONAL’s contribution, the inclusion of furniture by regional designers such as Aljoud Lootah, Khalid Shafar, Zuleya, Toru, and Bahraini Danish reflects BONE’s thoughtful curation of local talent. The resulting pieces bring a layer of playful contrast to the space’s linear geometry, adding richness through woven textiles, timber, and leather.

Erth is a layered space, rooted in tradition, yet defined by innovation where material and memory are in constant dialogue. COLLECTIONAL is proud to have supported the realization of this award-winning environment through its expertise in architectural finishes.
