Chiara Berta is an Italian ceramic artist known for her quietly expressive, hand-built forms. With an early background in set design, her journey into ceramics began through decorative arts, eventually evolving into a full-time studio practice grounded in material intuition.

Working primarily with earthenware, Berta sculpts vessels and objects that embrace asymmetry, tactile surfaces, and natural irregularities, transforming simple shapes into poetic, one-of-a-kind pieces. Her work is driven less by perfection than by feeling, allowing each object to reflect the slow rhythm of its making.

The physical relationship with clay and the manipulation of materials allow me to transfer the intensity of the gesture and the search for balance into the forms I create.”

After establishing her own ceramic workshop in 1999, her ceramics have been exhibited in design galleries and institutions across Italy, including presentations at Milan’s Triennale and contemporary craft biennials.
