Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert is a Paris-based glass artist and designer redefining the boundaries of contemporary glassmaking for over two decades. Known for his large-scale, hand-blown glass lighting and sculptural pieces, his work bridges tradition and innovation, transforming molten material into fluid, luminous forms that elevate interior spaces. Inspired by the underlying principles of the universe and creative expression, his works incorporate symbolic narratives that reveal the cosmic story.
“The end result is a combination of gravity, breath and heat—executed during a choreographed ballet of movements that require a team of skilled artisans”
French-American, Parisian-born and raised in West Africa, Wintrebert’s practice is rooted in centuries-old glassblowing techniques. Self-taught, Wintrebert mastered his skill by traveling, working and learning in studios and production shops around the world including in California, Florida, Washington, Murano Italy, and Czech Republic. Embracing the rigor of handcrafted production, he creates pieces that celebrate the organic movement and unpredictability of the medium. Each work is shaped by a deep respect for materiality and process, resulting in lighting and objects that exude warmth, texture, and a sense of quiet poetry. His commitment to preserving artisanal craft while pushing creative boundaries has positioned his studio as a leader in contemporary glass design.
“Glass is totally fascinating as a hot element, which moves and gives off light, with no other source than itself. I love working glass because when I look into a furnace I see a whole other universe full of dreams and potentials. It's not how a finished piece looks. It's how it feels, how it moves and glows and evokes emotion”.
