Specializing in collectible design, he creates sculptural furniture, lighting, and objects that embody movement, texture, and the raw beauty of natural materials. His pieces feel both instinctive and intentional—blurring the boundaries between art and function. Primarily working in ceramics, he also explores the tactile possibilities of plaster and bronze.

Guided by an experimental approach, Ernst crafts each work through a meticulous process of hand-shaping and material exploration. His work balances organic forms with abstract expression, shaped by his architectural background and a deep connection to materiality.

“Through a process of abstraction and stylizing I try to get to a point where I can communicate the essence of a natural phenomenon”

He draws inspiration from the intricate structures of nature — corals, fungi, and rock formations —translating their organic beauty into sculptural forms.

His work bridges the natural world and human experience, inviting a deeper connection between material, form, and existence. With a focus on one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces, his designs invite an emotional connection, transforming interiors into expressive, living environments.

“Coming from an architectural background, I find joy in the purity and minimalism of the work I create. To some extent, there is a 'form follows function' approach. I choose to use space [and negative space] and light as tools and don’t rely on form alone for expression. When I create a new piece, I have a vision of how the object will interact with its environment and user”
