Inspired by digital rasterization, the Grid Bench by Mario Tsai deconstructs its form into 5 mm-thin plywood “pixels.” Horizontal and vertical slats interlock through a hidden plug system, creating a surprisingly stable structure that appears to float in a precarious balance. The delicate thickness of each panel contrasts with its visual heft, lending the bench a dramatic tension between lightness and solidity.
