Vanitas Mirror
Designer:
Christopher Boots
Part of the Genesis collection by Christopher Boots, the Vanitas Mirror holds the tension between beauty and mortality that defines the vanitas painting tradition, reflecting the transient present back through timeless bronze. A moon-like surface worked to mirror polish at its center and cratered with rivers of vein carries the geological memory of molten metal suspended in eternal stillness. Lapis lazuli, the deep blue mineral long used to adorn sacred objects, traces these bronze fissures like frozen water in ancient stone. What emerges is a terrain alive with shifting reflection and cast depth, where earthly pleasures find permanence through craft.

Christopher Boots is a design studio that explores the interplay of nature, architecture, and geometry, offering contemporary interpretations of structure, symmetry, and pattern. Known for its sculptural lighting, the brand transforms raw elements—bronze, quartz, glass, and marble—into luminous forms that reinvestigate spatial atmospheres. Drawing from the classic and metaphysical worlds, the studio investigates mythical concepts of creation and transformation. Each piece is a balance of precision and organic expression, where material alchemy meets contemporary design.
