THE CHAIR. THE TABLE. WHO DECIDED THAT?
THE CHAIR. THE TABLE. WHO DECIDED THAT?
COLLECTIONAL Newsletter: September 2025 Issue
As the season turns and we get back into our routines: emails, early alarms, and espresso shots, some things quietly reclaim their power: the table and the chair.
We sit to learn.
We sit to eat.
We sit to think.
We sit to scroll.
We sit to create.
In this set square position, our bend in two to match the shape of these iconic objects that have existed since the dawn of time.
Somewhere in between kindergarten and the corner office, we spun around, and asked ourselves…
Who decided that life was meant to be lived between a table and a chair? Was it a philosopher? A carpenter? A tired parent?
And if so, should we thank them, or maybe blame them?
Why aren’t we working lying down, or sunbathing standing up?
Why do our best ideas only seem to come when we’re sitting, with coffee in hand, elbows on table?
Perhaps it’s because the table and the chair are not just furniture.
They are also a theater for daily dramas, morning routines, midnight sketches, unexpected inspiration, sometimes late talks.
So this September, as we head back to school, or simply back to ourselves, why not make space for work, but also for wonder.
Because perhaps, the table and the chair aren’t what keep us grounded, but what helps us take off.
