denHolm is a Melbourne-based creative studio founded in 2016 by Scottish designer and maker Steven John Clark.

The studio was founded out of Clark's early training as a stonemason, drawing on the pleasure of unexpected discovery. denHolm works largely with shaping limestone using hand-chiselling techniques into functional furniture pieces. Guided by Clarke’s desire to create objects that feel alive, denHolm's practice embraces asymmetry and organic form, resisting formulaic design.

denHolm pieces encompass the energy of both furniture and fine art with pieces that function as their intended purpose yet carry the presence of sculptural objects.

Each creation is lovingly named, further entrenching them with character and narrative. Alongside its collection, the studio undertakes commissions and exhibits work across galleries and design fairs internationally.

“I decided that I would make objects, furniture that had the same kind of rhythm as my sculptures. And I really wanted to make things that had a lot of personality, that couldn’t be read from one angle, and have everything asymmetrical, everything that we make in furniture. I didn’t want that to be the case when I made a piece with denHolm”.
