Studio Raw Material

est. 2017 Based in Jaipur, India

Studio Raw Material is a design practice based in the desert plains of western India, founded in 2017 by Dushyant Bansal and Priyanka Sharma, graduates from the Royal College of Art.

Deeply rooted in investigating the socio-economic forces underlying production and material culture in their local landscape, they focus on reimagining discarded and offcut materials, and redefining conventional notions of value through this process.

Their design language is constantly evolving, merging craft, architecture, and the surrounding environment to create pieces that reflect regional specificity, sustainability, and a thoughtful interrogation of waste and resourcefulness.

The studio’s approach emphasizes vernacular techniques, patience, deep research, and collaboration with local communities, resulting in works that embody both cultural heritage and contemporary design innovation.

”A fundamental principle of the approach is to make do with very little and work within the economy of means.”
