Coffee Tables collection by COLLECTIONAL Dubai
Christopher Duffy
Balance is an uplifting coffee table design conjured up by Christopher Duffy, working with the concept of levitation and buoyancy. A single Helium balloon stands on a thin black disc giving a playful trompe l’oeil as it holds a large piece of glass in a perfectly level and balanced state. Appearing as if it could topple at any moment, Balance introduces a sense of fun into the living space. This piece was created using the latest large-scale 3D printing technology.

Beautiful, bold, and dynamic…a permanent form emerges from a mountain of millions of sand particles. Inspired by the wave-like patterns seen in windswept dunes, the Dune coffee table captivates the essence of the desert with its incredible fluidity and dynamic, free-flowing appearance. Dune is brought to life by 3D printing in black quartz sand to create a solid, textured, and premium finish. Each work is paired with a thick glass tabletop to give a sense of grandeur to the finished piece.

“As if a mythical power has lifted two perfect rectangles straight from the Earth’s crust to use as his ornaments”

Like all of the Duffy London Abyss designs, Abyss Host plays on the concept of depth and creates a dramatic geological cross-section as mesmerising as the deep ocean.

A superb and inimitable showcase of craftsmanship, this unique coffee table is part of the Transparency Matters Collection. Entirely crafted by hand through the casting techniques of both resin and brass, it is composed of a one-of-a-kind resin top boasting a polished emerald green tone that results from a unique combination of three layers of mold. The finished piece looks like a precious gem. The elegant column-style base is a cylinder made of brass enriched by a natural golden finish. Also available in other colors and measures, any variation in the top is not to be considered a flaw but a stylistic choice of the designer. Materials: Cast resin in olive color and Solid brass

A study of depth and our perception of it, the Abyss Horizon uses the interplay between light and layers of the natural Birchwood coloration and sculpted blue glass to forge a mesmerizing three-dimensional canvas – reminiscent of our perception of water and how we observe its color transform at different depths. The perceived change in color becomes the element that gives true meaning to the piece, conjuring up ideas of a great oceanic topography and transforming the flowing design into an expressive object.

Vimini Centre Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is a very stunning centre table. The Vimini collection came about following a conversation we had about Nanna Ditzel and her Basket chair; apart from both being designed by women, we have much in common. We called it Vimini because it means wicker in Italian and it sounds like Bimini, an island I like. We used just the right amount of outdoor wicker with a rougher wooden frame. It doesn't have the same modernist spirit as the Basket but it's familiar enough that, when you get close, it stirs a memory and makes you feel at home. That's what it was, more or less—an object of memory. The chair consists of a basket with large backrest cushions. Seen from the side and back it has that modernist look. The braiding is traditional, your classic outdoor fiber. ‘I fancied something really traditional, something a bit modernist, relaxed in the way we treated the fibre. And the Vimini, the chair with its classic braiding and baskets, it's captivating, and we wanted to make something neutral’.

Mesh Centre Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is an aluminium base and aluminium top centre table with a sleek deisgn. Roll Centre Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is an alluring centre table. Using a unique intervention of conventional upholstery, Kettal converts an average backrest into two independent ‘wraps’ connected by colorful straps. These straps are connected to the aluminium structure using two pins, allowing our clients to remove them during the wintertime easily. The seat cushion is supported by a semi-transparent micro fabric, allowing the aluminum frames to support the protagonist of our chairs: the cushion. The design of Centre tables could be conCentrered postmodernist, given its basic yet unexpected forms. The tables are built following a graphic pattern that appears in all of the collection’s pieces, a pattern in which various materials - metals, concrete, and wood - are joined together in unique and unusual ways. The table tops are made up of different materials such as aluminium, Glaze, teak wood, or marble, while the base, resting on architectonic concrete, is made of intentionally oversized aluminium.
