Wynwood’s building exteriors serve as a canvas for cutting-edge works from leading fine artists, graffiti artists, and muralists. Synonymous with the neighborhood’s vibrant murals, Sebastian Herker disguises abstraction in the Wynwood console. The visual language of the carved shapes, forms, and lines balance spontaneity and structure.

Composed of jutting sea-cliff footpaths and clapboard houses, the offshore of Newfoundland Fogo Island is set against a striking coastline. Celebrated by the remote coastal community and its visitors, Sandy Cove is a curving gathering place. Sebastian Herkner’s use of buttresses echo both the natural formations propping up the rugged coastline and their prominence along some of Fogo’s most humble and beautiful structures.

The El Raval neighbourhood in Barcelona is a meeting point for multitudes. Close to the old port, the area was informally known as Barri Xinès or "Chinatown”. Today, it hosts a diverse immigrant community from all parts who call it home. The El Raval bench by Yabu Pushelberg takes this approach to heart by creating a vignette for minds to meet. A piece with inspiration from as many places as the people who meet in its namesake neighborhood.

The central promenade of La Rambla in Barcelona encourages you to slow down and watch the world go by. A canopy of trees weaves together to shade the benches that line the street. Yabu Pushelberg’s La Rambla lounge chair has the same effect in slowing down to reflect and relax. A piece with inspiration from as many places as the people who marvel at La Rambla embodies the casual elegance and originality of its namesake.

Gesturing away from the city center and towards Rio de Janeiro’s Ipanema Beach, Rua Leblon’s landscape evolves from cityscape to rolling waves. Yabu Pushelburg references two neighbouring Brazilian landmarks with their smaller expression of the Rua Ipanema lounge chair. Offering an escape from the metropolis, the Rua Leblon invites relaxation.

Mainkai, designed by Sebastian Herkner. Mainkai, or Main River Quay in English, is the riverside boulevard in Frankfurt, Germany, close to where designer Sebastian Herkner grew up and still calls home today. The spherical fishing floats and mooring buoys that bob along the river with an ethereal glow at night inspired the Mainkai's lamps' design.

Via del Corso, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, is the centre of life in historical Rome. Meeting at the Piazza Venezia with its three-sided roundabout and monumental churches “the Corso” is impressive. Yabu Pushelberg’s lounge chair has the same purposeful and imposing profile as the via but is balanced by soft curves and a lightness from its floating feet.

Takayama, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, is an Edo-era mountain town in Japan’s mountainous Gifu Prefecture, is famed for Ukai fishing. The Fishermen employ a 1300-year-old technique using trained Cormorant birds. The birds swoop in and catch fish using the light of burning baskets hung on rods over the edge of boats to see their prey. The arc of the Takayama floor lamp by Yabu Pushelberg bears an uncanny resemblance to the fisherman’s friend..

Rua Tucumã, designed by Osvaldo Tenório. One of Sao Paulo’s premier addresses in the lush and posh Jardins district takes its name from a palm tree’s fruit. The Tucumã fruit is a rich burnished colour on the outside and opens to beautiful rings of dark brown and white within. Osvaldo Tenorio’s Rua Tucumã coffee tables mirror the natural inspiration evident in all things Brazilian where the line between indoors and outdoors disappears.
