Agglomerati
Agglomerati is a London-based studio creating distinctive stone furniture. Established in 2019 by Australian designer Sam Henley, the studio aspires to create objects of permanence. Agglomerati adopts a ‘less is more' approach in respect to the timeless qualities of the material. The collections are characterized by geometric silhouettes and well-proportions plains, which lend themselves to the rich, lustrous surface of the stone. Each piece is made bespoke from an array of classic stone varieties and finished to the highest standard, using methods and materials that will last for centuries.

Alessio is a square coffee table enclosed by four cylindrical legs which sit seamlessly flush under the tabletop.

Based on the Round Table that Fred Ganim created in 2015, this coffee table is carved from a single block of Brazilian Quartzite (pictured). The stone's deep blue is shot through with warm red and calm, natural tones; myriad colors emerge in tightly compressed layers on the table's smooth surface, and cascade down the legs, each a fluid, folded curve.

Agglomerati presents at ALCOVA 2021, MASS its first collection of functional art-objects made exclusively in stone, designed together with Australian furniture maker Fred Ganim. Upon its extraction from the earth, marble is cut into large cubic volumes. MASS explores the reduction of these volumes, subverting the material’s inherent behaviours. Grounded by its weight, the sheer mass of the material uses gravity as a structural force, cantilevering a system of moveable shelves so that they appear to float parallel to the ground. Each modular piece slots together, serving as lecterns, shelves or tables, and can be assembled in any number of variations.
